SAE International - Twin Cities' Section
October 2004 Dinner Meeting

Meeting Date: October 13

Doug Rippie Motorsports
Presented by:
Doug Rippie

Doug Rippie Motorsports specializes in late model GM performance cars, Corvettes, Camaros, and Firebirds, and trucks. DRM has been building aftermarket performance packages since 1992 seeking to produce performance cars for the street. They have racing roots going as far back as 1973. Their activities run the range from easy bolt-ons to building full out track ready race cars. It is believed the tour of their facilities will present some interesting information into the performance automobile industry.

Current plans have Section members meeting at DR Motorsports, having a quick sandwich and chili meal and then a shop tour to view some of their performance cars including a demonstration of their engine dynamometer system.

Performance 'Vettes from DRM.

A related SAE event: Motorsports Engineering Conference and Exhibition is to be held in Dearborn, MI from November 30 to December 2. This should be an interesting Conference. Here's a quick clip from the SAE page:

Plan to attend the industry's only high-performance technology. From its opening keynote address by Max Mosley, President of the FIA, the global sanctioning body for Formula 1, to its closing historical session covering the Golden Age of the CanAm series and the legendary confrontation between Henry Ford and the Wright brothers, the SAE Motorsports Engineering Conference breaks new ground and provides a wealth of motorsports engineering information.
