Corporation Tour
Thermo King
Presented by:
Don Knauff

The Twin Cities section of SAE offers an opportunity to tour the experimental facilities and laboratories at Thermo King.  A buffet meal will be served and displays of their latest technologies will be available for viewing.  Engineers will be on hand to explain the technologies and answer questions.  After the meal a presentation will be made on the Challenges of Managing a World Wide Engineering Program and Providing 24/7 Service for the US Truck Refrigeration Fleet.

Thermo King was first started in 1938 when Joseph Numero and Frederick Jones patented the first transport refrigeration unit, known as the Thermo King "Model A". This landmark invention ushered in a new era of frozen foods, large supermarkets, and the restaurant industry that we all know today. Refrigerated transport made possible the delivery of fresh produce anywhere in the world, simplifying people’s lives, and changing the world we all live in, and it all started right here.

This event will be held in T-K's Education Center. Enter the Education Center entrance on the west side (Lyndale side) of the building.
