April 2010 Meeting
April 21
SAE Student Chapter Presentation - 2010

FormulaSAE and Mini-Baja Design Vehicles
Presented by: Tony Rea, Twin Cities Section Student Activities Chairman,
and Dan Peterson, Co-Chair
The SAE Collegiate Design Series is entering its 32nd year. It’s a simulated real-world product development contest for engineering students to design, build and test a recreational vehicle. Teams of engineering students, from various schools throughout the world, compete as their design is judged on performance, cost, design presentation, marketing, etc. The success of the project is based on team work, which will be a vital skill as the engineering students enter the real world of engineering.
Be sure to make your reservations for this event to hear our various chapters as they present design / development of their 2009 - 2010 vehicles and their most recent competition efforts. Schools expected for the April meeting will be:
  • Formula SAE, with a focus on Formula-type race vehicles, presented by University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Minnesota State University - Mankato.
  • St Cloud State Group will be presenting their 2010 SAE Formula Hybrid Competition vehicle project
  • Mini Baja vehicles, with a focus on the off-road vehicle, presented by University of Wisconsin – Stout and Minnesota State University - Mankato.
More than 25,000 engineering students have tremendous benefits from their participation in this competition and graduated with SAE collegiate design experience.
(From the Webmaster: Information about UM-Mankato presenting their Mini-Baja vehicle was accidentally left out of the printed April newsletters. We regret this error.)
